Fine fraction refining obtained by µ-hole fractionation

  • Pulp suspension fractionation into 2 fractions: fine fraction (cellulosic fines + mineral fillers) and fibre fraction
  • Fine fraction thickening with a centrifugal decanter to reach the necessary consistency for refining
  • Refining of the thickened fine fraction
  • 20 to 30% of the pulp suspension is refined: limitation in refining cost
  • Development of mechanical properties with a limited drainage reduction on the papermachine
