Generate Value...
Composed of various dimensions cellulose fibres, fines and inorganic particles, pulp suspensions offer a rich opportunity to differently use its contents.
Adapted utilization and treatment of different categories of fibres and fines present in pulps offers huge potential in pulp preparation and paper making operations. Generation of these fractions provides the possibility to fine-tune the paper manufacture and optimize the usage of fibres for a better manufacturing efficiency.
Stratification of fractions in multi-layer structure could lead to 15% reduction in grammage, a higher bending stiffness (112%) and considerable reduc-tion in roughness (-30%).
At CTP, with your pulp grades, we can collaborate to better valorise the pulp components according to your present needs or future product development objectives. Working with industrial grade systems installed at CTP would facilitate easy scale-up and support your investment plans.
Context and performance
Depending on the objectives, we can propose frac-tionation solutions by the application of a pressure screening (differentiation based on length & stiffness) or hydrocyclone (differentiation based on fibre & fine development/specific surface area). Alternatively, a specific fractionation strategy applying both technologies can be adapted for a complete valorization of all the pulp components (ref: CTP Patent WO2014041286A1).
Usage of PS200 simulation platform can complement to develop more scenarios and optimize the configuration options.![]() |

Content of services
At CTP we can work on two industrial techniques (in-dividually or combining) for pulp suspension fractionation. Connected to large volume tanks, production of large quantity of fractions is a possibility.
Pressure screening
CTP possesses 3-systems; equipped with a large selection of screen apertures. Hole or fine-slot baskets for short fibre/long fibre separation and micro-hole basket for fines removal provide a good flexibility for fractions generation. One system is a mobile unit for trials at the client place, outfitted with necessary accessories.
Hyrocyclone
Separating fibre and fines by specific surface area/cell wall thickness, transportable industrial size hydrocyclone systems are equipped with pressure and flow sensors, flexible connections and data downloading software.

4-unit mobile hydrocyclone system
Deliverables
Detailed trial report; which includes mass and flow split and equipment running parameter, morphological characteristics and physical properties of fractions. Production and transport of fractions as defined in the scope of work.
