Colour is an essential vector in modern communication. It is selected based on certain key aspects that will speak to a customer or promote a product in a thoughtful and optimised manner. Colour corresponds to a physical phenomenon that must be managed and controlled, but also to a subjective appreciation on the part of the reader and the feelings it evokes.
The world of printing has long used this basis for communication. Good management of colour rendering optimises the profitability of the printing chain by reducing product waste, optimising production time, and capturing and maintaining the interest of the various players up to the final reader, thus delivering the printed message as effectively as possible. The added value of the final product is enhanced.
Printers are equipped with means to measure and qualify colour. Although papermakers are able to characterise the hue of the whiteness of their substrates, they cannot make direct changes to the final printed product.
Drawing on its knowledge and expertise, the CTP works with printers and papermakers to help them optimise the colour rendering of their product throughout the value chain.

Context and performance

The wealth of knowledge, expertise, methods, consumables and equipment available to the CTP and its partners, who are all players in the graphic chain, gives them the means to consolidate their command of colour!
The CTP acts as the link between the papermaker and the printer, implementing printing protocols enabling them to understand the printed rendering obtained using different printing methods across the paper range.
The objective is to enable the papermaker to communicate with the printer regarding the optimal printed rendering for its paper.
To do so, the CTP transfers measurement methods and recommendations for suitable adjustments, using industrial presses. Indeed, this optimisation is required for each process, each machine - whether conventional or digital - and each range of substrates in order to anticipate the printed rendering and quality that will be obtained.
The CTP offers theoretical and practical training in order to transfer this knowledge and enable papermakers and printers to adopt the process for themselves.
