Compressive strength
Quality control and tests of packaging materials
- Quality control
- Tests in accordance with current French, EU and international standards
General informations
Compressive strength can be measured using the equipment at the Physical Testing Laboratory.
The main product groups tested are:
- raw materials such as corrugated board
- finished products such as corrugated board boxes, trays or cores
These tests can be implemented after standardised conditioning, or after heat-, moisture- or cold-ageing.
Technical Data and Achievements
The following tests can be performed at the Physical Testing Laboratory:
On liners or fluting papers
- Compressive strength – short-span test, SCT, according to ISO 9895
- Determination of the flat crush resistance after laboratory fluting, CMT, according to ISO 7263-1 and ISO 7263-2
- Determination of compressive strength – Ring crush method, RCT according to ISO 12192
- Determination of the edge crush resistance after laboratory fluting, CCT, according to ISO 16945
On corrugated board
- Determination of flat crush resistance, FCT, according to ISO 3035
- Determination of edgewise crush resistance (unwaxed edge method), ECT, according to NF EN ISO 3037
On corrugated board boxes
- Vertical compressive strength of packaging, BCT, according to NF H 13001
- Complete, filled transport packages – Compression and stacking tests using a compression tester, according to ISO 12048
On cores
- Testing of cores – Determination of flat crush resistance, according to ISO 11093-9
On trays
- Compressive strength; BCT
- Bending resistance of the bottom of trays, according to the test method FEFCO no. 56 and the technical reference framework CFQ – Common Footprint Quality of corrugated board trays
